The Parish

There are just under 8,000 people living in our parish and most of them, like us, think it is a pretty good place to live. There are some great schools and you can find more information on our Schools page.

We are lucky that we have some wonderful countryside on our patch plus some first rate resources including parks, shops, good public transport links and a variety of housing.   But of course it is the people that make the place and we are fortunate in having some great folk living here including a significant Muslim community who have brought new life to many small businesses and wonderful children for our schools.

We are not going to pretend everything is perfect and that in places there are people who are living isolated and difficult lives.  One of our aims is to work more with local organisations to try and make things better.

Our parish is situated in Moorside Ward in the Borough of Bury.  According to the 2011 census, the religous make-up of Moorside includes 61% Christian, 20% no religion and 12% Muslim. We also have 34 Jedi Knights!

We are in the parliamentary constituency of North Bury and have been a marginal seat for some time. James Frith of Labour is our MP, winning with a majority of 4,375 votes in the June 2017 General Election.
