St John & St Mark Church, Bury

Report for 2017 Annual Meeting:

We currently have 15 Rainbows with 2 on the waiting list and we have been joined by June and Lindsay as much needed unit helpers and we are very grateful to them.

We started the year by making a card for the Queen’s 90th birthday and these were sent to Buckingham Palace.  Later in the year all the rainbows who had made a card received a reply from the Queen’s lady- in -waiting, which included a message from the Queen thanking the girls and a photograph of her.

We continued the 90th celebrations by joining other rainbow units at the drill hall for Rainbow Day, where the girls went in as rainbows and came out as princesses.

2016 was the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter and the rainbows entered Beatrix Potter colouring competition and received a badge for entering. A Beatrix Potter theme followed on. As well as the usual Christmas activities we all went to an Italian restaurant for a meal.

We ended the year with a visit to the Church Pantomime and in March to Thinking Day at Seedfield Methodist Church

Again I would like to thank Mary and Joan for giving up their time to help. Eileen
